Food is delicious ! I ordered the catfish dinner fried hard and it was seasoned to perfection. I did not need any hot sauce or anything else to help it out. The vegetables were well seasoned. I also had the blue magic Kool-Aid drink, and it was good, not too sweet. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the mood for old school, flavorful affordable soul food in Chicago.

This restaurant was top tier with food and customer service. My kids and I stopped while we were visiting Chicago. The catfish, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes were so good. I highly recommend and will be back whenever I come back to Chicago. The staff was so friendly.

FYE!🔥 Through the Gate! I ordered the buttermilk GOLDEN, fried wings, Mac-N-Cheese, sweets and corn muffin on side to-go! Whew 😋 Everything was hot, fresh, made from scratch and made to order. I can tell the owner takes pride in her work- how the food was plated and prepared- down to the durable take-out utensils. Even had a side of hot sauce without even asking in my bag! This was my first time visiting and surely won’t be my last!🔥

On this past Saturday August 29th, 26 we, the family decided to celebrate our Aunts 85th birthday at The Neighborhood Gem, they did NOT disappoint, from the service, the food, to the aesthetics we truly had a GREAT time!!! The food was seasoned very well, tasty, and delicious! Over all I give this place a 10/10. If you don't believe me go stop in for yourself.
